You can set is as a ftp helper using the More Internet prefs pane: <http://www.monkeyfood.com/software/MoreInternet/>

I still don't understand why Apple can't offer two versions of the download. One as a single file and one as segments. That way every one could choose what worked best for them.

I really don't see what the problem is with downloading a single 600+ MB file. Works reliably for me.
