_GLIBCXX_DEBUG

Has anyone else tried this?
I just tried a debug build adding the flag to the preprocessor flags for the debug build style and I end up with:

/usr/include/gcc/darwin/3.3/c++/debug/dbg_map.h:172: error: `__glibcxx_valid_range' undeclared (first use this function)

I tried grepping through all of /usr/include and only find the missing symbol in one place (dbg_map.h) as a reference, but no declaration is found.
Am I missing something, or was there a problem in the distribution?
