Could someone from Apple indicate how long XCode 1.5 will take to be
available to purchase as a CD? Version 1.2 took the order of 3
months. (!) Readers can guess my feelings about that (which I won't
post as they are largely unprintable :-) ). While the developers are
clearly doing good work, it'd be nice to see the marketing and
delivery people match their efforts!
If Apple is going to do this _promptly_, I'd opt to just wait until
the CD is available. So... anyone? (I'd ask via feedback, etc., but
in the past I've gotten generic "this software isn't available (yet)"
responsed which aren't any use - I'm looking for a forward-looking
"release on CD" date. I'd be good if Apple would post such a schedule
so that people can plan.)
Please no offers of copies - I'd rather Apple face up to and solve
their own problems! (Besides, I suspect technically users may not be
legally allowed to distribute the CDs.)

As an ADC Select member, I was able to download the official Xcode 1.5
release yesterday. It may have been available a couple days earlier,
but yesterday is when I got the ADC email about it.
The ADC site said that Xcode 1.5 would be available for general
download by everyone today. I don't know if it's visible yet to the
general public, but it's supposed to be there today. I installed it
yesterday and (so far) everything is working well, although I am not an
Xcode "power user". One very noticeable improvement is that the
indexing now takes place in the background in a (I assume) low priority
thread. Much better! Oh, and also code completion for java is now
available.
