XCode 1.2
today's questions....
"Help" menu / "XCode Help" menu item brings up a window with a Groups
scrollable column, with "Library" open and "Tools" selected. There's a
grid
with "Relevance" selected and nothing displayed in the grid, and below
that a
scrollable column starting with "XCode help" and a bigger column
starting
with "About XCode".
How do I horizontally resize the column that starts with "Xcode Help"
so I
can see the full text?
How can I display these two XCode columns in a separate window without
the
unnecessary Grid and Groups column? (I can control-click on links in
these
two XCode columns to show in a separate window, but that's not what I'm
asking - it doesn't get me both windows.)
If I click ...say "Quicktime" ... and then "Tools" in the Groups
column, the
XCode columns go away and I see "Tools Documentation"...Why isn't there
an
general XCode help item in the Tools Documentation pane?
Is Help/XCode Help the only way to see general XCode help?
When I bring up another window, and then select "Window" menu /
"blahblah
project.pbproj" menu item ( my project filename ) why does the a Help
window
that I've hidden come out of hiding and show up on top of my project
window?
Following the directions in XCode's help... I do "Project" menu / "New
Build
Phase" / "New Shell Script Build Phase". This creates a "Shell Script
Files"
item in the builld phases under my target.
[ Important: The help instructions do NOT say what directory the shell
scripts are going to be executed in. ]
I expect to be able to drag script files into the grid but that isn't
allowed. Why not?
I click the item's Reveal Triangle and expect to see a list of shell
scripts.
Why is there not?
If I click the Info button or the Inspector menu item, it brings up a
dialog
that seems to expect me to type in the script. Not what I want to do.
Why do the "Get Info" menu and the "Show Inspector" menu items appear
to do
the same thing?
If I control-click "Shell Script Files" in the group menu, the menu
item
"Reveal in Group Tree" does nothing. Why? The menu item "Open in
Separate
Editor" does nothing. Why? "Add... / New File" brings up the New File
assistant, which doesn't allow me to select an existing shell script.
I also wondered why a file I was editing in a window got replaced by a
file I
opened, and discovered the "Editing Mode" toolbar item. I think this
should
be a Preference, since I'm not going to change my mind about editing
modes
once I set it to "multiple windows".
