I don't think there is any way to get it back in 1.5.

I've filed a suggestion (#3754296) asking for the return of the drawer. I'm the kind of person who has to have the GDB console open at all times when debugging, and now I have to have two windows open & at the front in order to debug. The drawer was _far_ more elegant IMHO...
