Since I haven't seen any discussion that hit this annoyance, I thought I
would share a few URLs in my travels...
<http://www.pycs.net/bbum/2004/2/28/>
Basically this is just a useful step for setting the mime-type of the
XML config cruft under the .xcode directory to binary. Therefore you
will only see updates and not tons of diffs that do not matter, since
these particular files change frequently and vary greatly between
revision.
This was a particularly useful pointer when I attempted my first round
of Xcode 1.5/Subversion interaction -- so I thought I'd share the link.
I found the best setup to be information regarding $Id $ tag expansion
on <http://wincent.org/article/articleview/236/1/0> (I simply added
*.java to the list for .subversion/config), the above URL and the
Subversion manual (for branching -- QuickStart and Chapter 4 (for those
CVS users out there)) to be the best combination of setting up a Mac OS
X repository for use with Xcode.
This links are best for those types of people that learn through
experimentation versus reading manuals.
It is nice to be rid of CVS finally. Sure there are implementation
growing pains moving to subversion, but at least I can stop bitching
about the poor stale design of cvs.
Sorry if this is bluntly offensive to those cvs lovers out there ;)
