Bring up the project inspector and turn off indexing in the Code Sense tab.

I have for a long time been quite annoyed at how when I start a new Java project, ProjectBuilder/Xcode indexes every single Java class. I was able to find an option in the Xcode preferences under "Navigation" called "Enable indexing", but turning it off doesn't actually seem to turn off indexing. Xcode indexes all of these classes that I'm not even using, nor will I ever use.

What's really annoying that it does this for EVERY SINGLE PROJECT, not just once for everything. Additionally, I just loaded a project with Xcode 1.5 for the first time since upgrading, and it's indexing again! I wouldn't care so much, but it totally bogs down my 1.25GHz G4 PowerBook w/ 1GB of RAM (!), making not only Xcode, but every app painfully slow. And, it takes forever to finish!

It could at least be smart enough and only index packages and classes that I have explicitly imported.

If anyone knows of a way to turn off this bloody nuisance (I'm fine relying on a reference book, thanks), I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Patrick
