Open Panel - NSReceiverEvaluationScriptError

Ok so I'm a bit new to Xcode, but I'm getting a problem I can't seem to figure out, I've distilled it to the following:

I take the Open Panel example (demonstrates an file open panel) and make a copy.

I execute it, it works flawlessly, and the path I choose from the open panel appears in a text field named "path names"

In interface builder, I make an exact copy of the original text field that displays the path chosen by the open panel, and name it "path names". I change the original's name to "oldpathnames". I would think this would work just fine, but I get "NSReceiverEvaluationScriptError: 4 (1)".

Can anyone explain what I'm doing wrong here? Help!
