If the VersionControlDirectory default doesn't work for you, there is a
palette available at http://www.rtlabs.com/downloads/ that moves the .svn
directory for you. (I used it before I learned about the default.)
If necessary, it could be easily modified to do the chmod, though I just
run "find . -name .svn -exec chmod -R u+w {} \;" after a commit. And
the chmod causes no problems for subversion.

The download also includes an EOModeler bundle that moves the .svn
directory when saving an eomodel.
