Hello Grant,
- Xcode Tools 1.1 on CD is included in any retail package of Mac OS X
which has the v10.3.2 revision in it.
- If you purchase a copy of Mac OS X v10.3 and obtain v10.3.2 via
software update, you have the option of obtaining just the Xcode Update
1.1 via the Software Update mechanism (that's basically just the update
to the IDE itself) or you can obtain the full Xcode Tools 1.1 disk
image (including IDE, doc and other component updates) through the ADC
download site on http://connect.apple.com. If you go to the Download
site , you can look at the seed notes for both the Update 1.1 and the
full Tools 1.1 releases to see the additional supplied on the disk
image and whether it's valuable to you to do so. I generally recommend
it. You can choose to install the Xcode Update 1.1 via Software Update
while waiting for the Xcode Tools 1.1 CD to arrive, and then install
the complete 1.1 package when it arrives.
- Any ADC member, whether Online, Student, Select or Premier, can elect
to obtain the Xcode Tools 1.1 disk image via free download or order the
physical media from ADC for the equivalent of $20US. This is the
quickest and most efficient way to distribute the software on physical
media.
best,
Godfrey

I am writing from New Zealand (NZ). I am about to upgrade to 10.3+
(yes, I know I'm late...!) and wanted to ensure I had access to Xcode

with it, Apple NZ does. Apple NZ passes the buck on even further and
claims this can only be obtained from the Apple Developer website.
Hoever there appears to be no way of getting the CD without a paid
membership to ADC. I was under the impression that Apple (at one
point) offered a physical CD of this update to those for whom
downloading 600+Mb from not realistic. So...
1. Can someone point me to a source of Xcode Tools 1.1 as a CD?
2. In people's view, is the (partial) updater fine, or are there
pretty important things lurking the full CD update? (I apologise if
this question is a rehash of earlier posts but annoyingly I can't
relocate the relelvant posts in my mail archives and my memory is too
fuzzy to trust.)
3. Why doesn't Apple push large updates like this to its regional
suppliers/distributors, so that if other means are not practical, the
suppliers, etc., can offer their clients a copy at nominal cost?
4. Note that this has altered the meaning of ADC to people in my
position. I was under the distinct impression that paid ADC
subscriptions were for the support that they provided and that the
development software was supposed to be free. Now it appears that
there is no way to obtain XCode 1.1 "for free" -- ? It'd cost me
$US500 as far as I can see. Do correct me if I'm wrong.
