Somewhat of a FAQ. Here's the response from Matt Morse of Apple:
There have been several reports of this problem. The easiest way to
fix it is to delete the defaults that have bogus values. In a Terminal
window, execute these commands:
> defaults delete com.apple.Xcode PBXHelpWindowContentConfiguration
> defaults delete com.apple.Xcode PBXHelpWindowGeometry
This will return the Documentation window to its 'factory preset'
values for size, placement, splitview settings, etc. This bug has been
fixed, and the fix will be available in the next release of Xcode.
Until then, I'm afraid resetting the defaults as explained above is the
best workaround for those seeing the problem.
