What is SPI?! According to MachORuntime documentation the _dyld* are low level functions. I could not find anything against their use in the docs.

API = Application Programming Interface SPI = Service Provider Interface

The somewhat subtle distinction is that APIs are what the app guys use. SPIs are what "middleware" (to steal a horrible term) uses; these are subject to change at more frequent intervals than APIs, in this best of all possible worlds....

The term 'SPI' also means you are not advised to use them, unless your life depends on it. Or words to that effect.
