Just use the "Standard Tool" (C) or Standard C++ Tool (C++) to do some pure UNIX stuff.
If you wish to use some OSX commodities such as Foundation, or CoreFoundation (ObjC or C/C++), use the corresponding targets.


Once you have a UNIX tool project, you can safely use cout cin << >> and the like.
