Just got the latest ADC weekly mailing and I thought this might be of
interest to anyone on this list who suffers with a dialup connection:
All Apple Developer Connection (ADC) members may download Xcode for
free from the ADC Member Site. For added convenience, starting the week
of January 12 you may purchase the Developer Tools on CD-ROM for the
cost of shipping and handling (US$ 20) on the ADC Member Site. Please
note that Mac OS X v10.3 is required.

If you haven't yet downloaded the complete install, which has more than
just the Update, then getting the CD may be a good option for you.
