Thanks to everyone for their advice. I prefer vim in linux and I am
certainly glad to hear it exists in Panther. I will use it, probably, from
now on, unless I get tired of Panther's terminal font (which I can tell
already is going to happen!). I will also take a look at BBEdit which
several people have recommended. Thanks again for the good responses. R.
