Build-and-debug hangs

Has anyone else noticed XCode 1.1 hanging in the situation where you
choose Build And Debug (Command-Y) where the only thing that has
changed is the NIB file? The Build window is stuck with "Copying
English.lprog/MainMenu.nib" as the only build step. I cannot
reliably reproduce this situation, but the only time XCode hangs like
this is when ONLY the NIB file has changed (no source files need
compiling).
In the last couple of days, I've encountered this about a half dozen
times. Selecting Stop Current Build does absolutely nothing;
clicking the stop sign icon in the build window appropriately
disables the icon, but still doesn't stop the process; and choosing
Quit XCode presents the stop confirmation dialog ad infinitum unless
you choose Continue Build, which defeats the purpose. The only
recovery is to force-quit XCode and restart it. I then also have to
clean the target, since it is apparent that the nib file left behind
is FUBAR'd if I try to run again.
Is it possible that it farmed out this to a distributed build
computer, although there's nothing to "build", per se? Is there
anyway to see which build step is being handled by which computer?

You must know the rules.
Only then will you understand why you must break them.
