Hi,
Yes, we host WebObjects from Solaris for deployment, and test deploy on
RedHat. It is very easy. We use Apache with SSL for our web server,
JBoss as our application server to serve our WebObjects servlet and
Oracle 9 for our database. In WebObjects 5.2.3, you can choose the
"true war" servlet option for deployment. That's the option we use and
it makes deployment on Linux and other platforms very easy. I'm very
pleased with the stability (it hasn't ever crashed after months of
running) and ease of deployment. The "true war" servlet option is a
big improvement over past deployment options.
I highly recommend WebObjects. There was a lot of initial opposition
from others at the company where I work until they saw the prototype I
built in one week with WebObjects. Now they are finally taking Apple
seriously and interested in buying some XServes and such and using
other Apple technology such as Rendezvous.
