I have a dual 1.42 GHz G4, 2 GB DRAM, with striped 15k 36GB HD's as the
boot volume, and it's damn fast. At WWDC I worked on a Dual 2.0 G5 in
the optimization lab, and Xcode (1.2 or 1.5b) on the G5 was 2x-3x as
fast at compiling my app as my G4, even with the standard 160 GB
internal HD and only 512 MB of DRAM. Smoking front-side memory bus,
dual LSU's... that's where "speed" comes from. ;)
