We also had a lot of confusion about what build settings were propagated to sub projects, and now (irritatingly) i can't remember, though we did manage to get some kind of feel for it in the end, after a lot of hand waving a voodoo superstition.

One thing that we found VERY important is that all of your projects need to be set to build to the same location (a "source tree" is the obvious way to do it). If they aren't all built to the same place you get all sort of rubbish with paths - especially, eg. when working with frameworks.

I also haven't filed Radar bugs for my problems yet, because I don't want to spam overworked engineers with duplicate bugs or my own misunderstandings, but it's a bit disappointing not to have any feedback here about whether my problem is a known issue, whether i should file a bug, or whether there are any other things i can do to try to narrow down the problem at all.

ho hum,

josh

Project references seem to be a bit broken in xcode 1.2 (at least for me and a few other people), so you may want to hold off until it's fixed - check out the recent "subprojects" and "inter target build dependancies" threads for more details.

I read those threads before I tried to migrate to using project references, but I haven't seen any of the problems mentioned there. That's good in a way I guess, but the problems that I mentioned in my last email are still serious enough to prevent us from using project references.

I haven't created cases in Radar for my problems yet - I was hoping for some kind of confirmation from Apple that the things I'm wondering about are correct observations, and not simply a lack of understanding about what project references are and how they should be used.
