As I only have a dialup internet connection I've spent the last two

So, why don't you use the USA servers? It's a matter of a click before
hitting "Download".
That's my point. I've had to use the USA servers because the Asia
Pacific ADC server isn't as fast, or is just plain unreliable. For
example, it prompts me for a password which I can't provide as Apple's
ADC web page has logged me into the server using some cryptic scheme.
Or upon starting the download it immediately tells me the segment has
been completely downloaded (!) and the Finder even thinks there is 29.2
MB file sitting in the download folder! To be fair, this last issue is
probably how the Finder (poorly) handles FTP. In any case, why should
those poor electrons travel an extra several thousand kilometres ;-)
Perhaps some kindful Australian could send you a CD with the remaining
20 segments or a full CD in exchange to an md5 of the first segment.
As a last resort, there are all those p2p networks ...
Too late and probably not legal. I'm downloading the last segment as we
speak ;-)
If only Apple would put the same resources into supporting developers
as they do consumers.
Obviously, there is some trouble with the mass-produced Xcode 1.2 CD.
Perhaps all the CD presses are exhausted pressing the OS X 10.4 CDs?
;-)
Hadn't thought of that. Of course that would mean the lucky few going
to WWDC are having normal developer resources diverted to their needs.
As usual, Apple folks appear to work quietly on a solution.
Yep. You got it in one!
