Code completion lookup crash

I have encountered a situation where XCode consistently crashes when it tries to do its code completion lookup, even though I disabled code completion in the preferences. Does anyone know of a way around this? Naturally I'll use another editor for the moment, but I'd rather avoid this in the future.
