I did see a previous post that suggests to "Be sure to switch OFF the "use ssh instead of rsh" setting, even if you're using ssh.", but I see no option for this in Xcode's preferences...

It seems a fair number of people are using this "SSH Agent" thing. Is there a particular reason? I don't have it installed and I don't have any problems using SSH within Xcode. I do have a couple bugs filed about CVS support in Xcode not keeping file statuses up to date, and not being very robust (CVS support goes bye-bye at the first sign of trouble, e.g. if a checkin is attempted against a file with a sticky tag). However, I don't believe those bugs are specific to SSH.

Anyway, the "use ssh instead of rsh" option is buried in the following:

Get Info on your Project -> General -> Enable SCM -> SCM System CVS -> Edit...

It's *really* buried, but it is there. For me at least, I never had to explicitly un-check the box. I read the posts you were referring to a while ago, found the option, and it was already unchecked, and I had never touched it. So, if you have never explicitly checked it in the first place, then it might already be unchecked anyway. It was for me.

...Seems like apple would've fixed this, but maybe they just expect us to all use/pay for perforce?

I think Xcode might have more problems with perforce than with CVS, based on some of the posts I've seen and what the Xcode release notes have to say about problems with Perforce support.

I'm hoping (AND filing a feature request!) to have Xcode support subversion in a not-too-distant future release, now that subversion has gone GM.
