perforce interface still not there!?!

ok i have gotten peforce running on my machine:
[mac:~] ken% p4 info
User name: ken
Client name: mac
Client host: mac.local
Client unknown.
Current directory: /Users/ken
Client address: < NOT SHOWING THIS ONE :) >
Server address: localhost:2200
Server root: /Users/perforce/p4droot
Server date: 2004/03/17 14:30:10 -0800 PST
Server version: P4D/DARWINPPC/2003.2/52835 (2004/01/19)
Server license: none
however x-code still hangs forever when trying to switch the info scm
tab from cvs to perforce.
does anyone have perforce running? surely it is not because i am not
running on the default perforce port.

though i have seen nothing about incompatablilities
