IB NSTextField & shadows

By editing the text of an NSEditField in Interface Builder, one can change various font attributes.

However, none of the shadow controls in the text window (p-T) actually affect anything.

Is IB supposed to support this? Shouldn't it disable those controls if they can not be handled?
