agvtool new-marketing-version does not work?

  • Subject: agvtool new-marketing-version does not work?

I'm trying to get agvtool working on an XCode project, but I'm not having much luck.

In my native target I've set Versioning System to apple-generic and Current Project Version to a number (e.g. 5). With that, agvtool bump -all and agvtool vers seem to work as expected.

However, setting the marketing version does not seem to work:

dave% agvtool new-marketing-version "1.0.1"
Setting CFBundleShortVersionString of project version to:
    1.0.1.

dave% agvtool mvers
No marketing version number (CFBundleShortVersionString) found.

Looking in the info.plist, the original CFBundleShortVersionString is present but not changed by agvtool.

Thoughts? Is there something else that needs to be set in the target for this to work?

Dave
