Hello,
Interesting, here we have switched to Eclipse from IDEA to get Java
work done, because of the IDEA upgrade price :(
And more I use Eclipse, more I think that the Xcode design decision for
the work flow has been very smart.
I see two things that prevent me to use Xcode for daily java work,
excepted for the build system that is very flexible under Xcode and
permit me to make what I need, mixing ObjC, C++ and Java source, in a
very interesting way :)
1 / Java code completion, not still here in Xcode, it is a need for
me as a 'young' Java programmer to learn this heavy and not well enough
designed Java API
2/ Code refactoring in Java is overused, people don't think enough
before coding, hence to be in sync with other people is a pain, because
of the way Xcode principle about code add/remove from the source tree
For the second point I see a very simple way to resolve the stuff, is
to make smart group that add or remove any file under the dedicated
folder group...
Anyway the Xcode team has a winner in their hand, they made very smart
design decision for the workflow, even if Eclipse is impressive, it is
too bloated and you have to manage/master too many plugin to get what
you need .... And lead to a bloated UI at the end.
Best regards
Gerard
