Installing Xcode 1.2 on separate partition?

  • Subject: Installing Xcode 1.2 on separate partition?

Howdy All,

I would like to install Xcode 1.2.

My /Developer is a symbolic link to a folder on another partition. I know the install readme for Xcode 1.2 says that Xcode MUST be on the same partition. But I can't fit all the development tools (including WO) and all the apps etc on my boot partition.

The installer allows me to choose the boot partition and seems to do the whole install. However, I am left with the old version of Xcode (1.1). The install doesn't seem to fail, I guess it just doesn't do it. Any ideas what is really happening or how I may complete the install?

Why oh why are such limitations placed on this modern operating system?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Ashley.
