viewing whitespace?

I've looked in the Xcode help, google and developer.apple.com, but I cannot find how to view whitespace in Xcode (e.g., in MSVC a space looks like a dot '', and a tab is an arrow '->' (viewed & treated as a single character).

So, either this is not possible, or I'm not looking in the right spot. Any suggestions?
