Okay, I've been reading plenty of 'problem reports' and find all this so very enlightening. However, I was just thinking to myself... This is Awesome!

'This' being:

Users - you guys are honest, humble, hard-working, curious, and polite. That being only the tip of the iceberg, you guys are great!

XCode - While somewhat imperfect, it is quite exceptional. There's a lot of infrastructure going into the xcode suite of tools that really push the edge of technology.

Apple - The devs at Apple are responsive, actively supporting us, working out problems, and prioritizing their efforts with a great degree of fairness. Being in their shoes is no easy task I'd imagine. And, since I'm a strong believer in OSS philosophy, I really appreciate the fact that Apple has made a very serious effort to collaborate with this community. I'm also excited that someone is leading the charge to develop a cleaner-friendly OS environment. There are definitely geniuses working inside Apple.

So, what qualifies this assertion of gratitude?
I've been a software developer for quite some time now. Starting with the good ol' DOS days (har har yeah right) developing game software for Brainstorm (Borland C) and Sanctuary Woods (Watcom C). Then moving onto windows tool development for Disney Interactive and EAC for a couple years while periodically going to school. And, finally my research job at my university doing development in QNX (4.25 with Watcom 10.6 tools) developing an adaptive optics system.

In my spare time, whenever I'm fortunate enough to get some, I like to dabble with all kinds of technology. Some time ago I did some research into what platform would suit my needs best, and it appeared OS X was rather exciting (particularly with NeXT heritage). Of the time I've had my laptop, then later a dual G5, I've had first hand experience watching the steady improvement of the development tools on this platform. What I've noticed is nothing short of remarkable.

It's nice to pop out of "work mode," look around and admire the state of affairs. It makes me feel good that I've made the right choice.

So, here's my hats off to Apple and its fantastic community.

My 2c...
- Aaron.
