Build Variants?

  • Subject: Build Variants?

I haven't been able to find more than a few sentences about "variants"
in the documentation, but what I have found sounds like it's what I
want to build both normal and debug builds and keep them both
around at the same time.

Is this correct?

Does anybody know the right way to use variants? How do I set it
up and what will happen?

Is this the best way to keep normal and debug builds (and the
intermediate products such as object files) around? Will the final
product be given a different name for the debug build automatically?

Will the variant info be passed from project to dependent project?

Does this work from both the GUI and command line?
