When editing objective c and c++ files with the Xcode text editor, I
often find that pressing the Return key fails to insert a line feed.
Pressing it a second time will insert a line feed, or sometimes two. As
you can imagine, this is starting to drive me nuts.
I've seen this happen with older versions of XCode, as well as the
newer (1.5). I've seen it happen both on my very old iBook, and on my
relatively new Power Mac.
The behaviour is similar to that observed if you edit a file using a
different line ending from that which it is encoded with. However, I
have tried changing the line ending encoding (Unix and Mac) without
success, or any apparent change.
I've tried turning the syntax-aware indenting on and off, and playing
with the settings, but to no avail.
Has anyone else experienced this, and can you suggest a fix please?
I've had a good root about on Google, but without success (I was
imagining I'd find screams of "Arghhh! Xcode's editor is broken, rant
rant rant"), which is a little surprising.
Once I've worked out what's wrong here, I'll file a bug - I'm not sure
I've got a lot to say at the moment though!
Thanks,
Benjohn
