Hi again folks!
I thought it would be prudent to mention that I figured this out
(thanks to Tom Woteki for assistance in spotting the trouble).
Problem was XCode corrupted the project for me in such a way that
development builds worked fine, but deployment builds wouldn't. It is
possible (but not confirmed) that this particular project hadn't been
built since XCode 1.1, so it could be an upgrade issue between XCode
1.1 - 1.2 of some sort. Either way, creating a new WO project and
moving my code and resources into it worked like a charm.
Moral of this story is: if XCode suddenly acts as if it's possessed by
malicious demons with an older project (see the movie "The Exorcist"),
don't waste time trying to fix it. Just re-create the project, move
your files into the new project and get on with life.
(Apple dudes (Jim Ingham, David Ewing, Chris Espinosa or whomever it
may concern): I do have the corrupted project if you're interested in
seeing it. Immediately I noticed when comparing the new and old
versions that the old version does NOT have a projectname.xcode file,
just a projectname.pbproj file. The new project has both. Also it might
be noteworthy that the permissions were screwy on the deployment target
in the old project ("a-w,a+Rw" if I remember correctly), but fixing
them does NOT help the problem at all. Finally, note again that I
haven't moved up to XCode 1.5 just yet, so this could be an old issue
to you. Either way, if you want to see the old corrupted project just
tell me where to send it ...)

Hi folks!
I've stumbled over this for the last day or so, but can't find the
incantation to make this magic work (and I'm starting to run low on
virgin goats to sacrifice:).
I have a WebObjects project that builds and runs fine in the
development buildstyle, but it just won't build in deployment, either
through the XCode GUI or the command line.
In deployment, the project compiles fine but it trips over the very
first "custom shell script" (namely it's "BPTag004-script.sh" that's
suffering an emotional breakdown). The build log LOOKS like it's
building pieces into the folder "_WOServerTMS.tmp", but then trying to
collect them from the folder "TMS.tmp". When it can't find that it
starts it's bawling ...

The trouble with doing something right the first time
is that nobody appreciates how difficult it was.
