If I set up a project which during a copy phase, copies a Java class file to the Resources folder of the application, PBXcp calls /usr/bin/strip to strip debug symbols from the class file when the deployment style is selected. This fails, so my build fails. Is there some place where we can define what files should NOT get their symbols stripped?

Try setting the COPY_PHASE_STRIP build setting to NO.
