For immediate gratification examine the sample code that is included with
the XCode tools included with your Max OSX.  You are running Mac OSX, right?

I would also recommend the Aaron Hillegass book: "Cocoa Programming for Mac
OSX".  And if you really want to get those toes wet you should take a week's
vacation at the Big Nerd Ranch: http://www.bignerdranch.com/
