Different executables for different targets

Xcode seems to have a concept of "different executable for different targets," but I can't figure out how to coerce it to switch to my desired executable for a non-application target.

I have a target with an application target and a plugin target. When I'm debugging the plugin, I don't want to run the application target. I want to run Safari.

Whenever I've been working on the Plugin target and switch to the application target, Xcode wisely switches the active executable to the application target's product.

When I switch from working on the app to working on the plugin, I would like to get Xcode to auto-switch the executable to my Safari executable.

I can't find any "target" setting that indicates a default target. Is this possible? Or should I direct my concerns to an enhancement request ?

Right now I have to manually select the Safari executable every time I switch to the plugin target.

Thanks!
Daniel
