Yes I understand that, but I only wanted the ability to do it.
Are you familiar with IntelliJs local SCM system? Basically it saves a history for every file so you can revert to ANY earlier save of the file. What I'd like is to have some way of making the SCM work like this locally.

Okay, fair enough. I agree with you, with some caveats, that this would be a handy option. For single-user local repositories only, though. I don' t suppose you've file an enhancement request on it?
