Yeah, this is a hidden magic feature. When the sheet that comes up does come up, hit the "/" key. A new dialog will pop up that will let you type in the path. All you really need to type in is "/usr" and then you can navigate your way down from there.
This is really a problem with the .hidden (/.hidden on the system). I'm guessing that it tells all file dialogs to hide those files/directories, which is not what we need as developers. I have no idea if this is easy to correct as I don't remember what the drop down sheets are called, and so can't check the docs. Anyone have any ideas?

It must be easy, but I can't navigate to this directory using the
browser that pops-up when selecting Add Existing Files....
