Did you recently upgrade Java to 1.4.2 Update 2? If so, it may be that
Xcode is now hosed. It broke my installation, and removing Xcode (using
the Perl script provided by Apple) and then reinstalling it fixed the
problem.

I assume this is a bug (I've checked the archives, but can't see any
mention
of it); has anyone else come across it? It seems a bit obvious for
nobody
else to come across...
