$Revision:$ or $Id:$ tags are something that CVS/RCS handles specially.
Though they are always displayed as revision differences, they are ignored
(and overwritten) at commit/merge time. Diffs across *branches* in the
tag invariably show up as conflicts, as dictated by the diff rules.
SlickEdit is one solution, and the upcoming release of Eclipse is also supposed to support it. Unfortunately, SlickEdit on OS/X is an X11 port. It works. Pretty well, too. But for $299 I'd like something that's a little bit more integrated / native with OS/X and XCode2. Actually, for the cost I'll probably just use Eclipse but that pretty well cuts XCode2 out of the equation too. Well... maybe I'll end up hoping back and forth... :-)
