Custom Data Formatters in XCode 2.1

Is it safe to say that Custom Data Formatters are broken again in XCode 2.1?

I have one that I wrote back in XCode 1.5 days, was never able to get it to work when I was told that it didn't work, it worked in XCode 2.0, now it is not working in XCode 2.1. I can't even see what the value of a std::string is. I am getting very tired of printf debugging.
