How is this supposed to work? I don't get!

It cycles from all-source to source-and-disassembly-side-by-side to all-disassembly. If it doesn't, please file a bug describing what it does on your system.

If you only see disassembly, then the debugger cannot find the source file for the current stack frame.

:-)
I thought it must doing something much more complex - e.g. remembering the state for each stack frame or so.

Actually, it does not behave as you decribed it, or what would be reasonable. It is most often unable to view the dissassembled sources - or takes ages till the assembly view is updated.

There is possibly a bug in viewing the dissassembled source - possibly because of the source. This also affects the debugger - which stops suddenly and does not work anymore.

I'll file a bug - but it certainly needs further investigation.
