19 minutes of linking - not any more

Hi everyone,

I'm happy to tell you that I don't have these long linker times any more. Switching from gcc 3.3 to gcc 4.0 made the difference. It took a while to get gcc 4 to accept the code, but the difference in compiling and linking speed is incredible and certainly worth it. I can only encourage those who still stick with gcc 3 to upgrade now! I know that gcc 4 is really pedantic about what it thinks your C++ should look like, but for me the time I save at recompiling more than compensates the time I spent on making gcc 4 like my code.

-Stefan
