AFAIR, drag&drop (as opposed to file add dialog) should work correctly.

Read "another NSOpenPanel gem," as the bug you filed will be duplicated to a longstanding NSOpenPanel bug. It's resolving symlinks unconditionally even though we're setting the bit asking it not to.
