Invoking XCode documentation from external apps?

Hi,

In Xcode, if I option-double-click a word like "NewWindow" it takes me
to the documentation for that function. Great. Now let's say I want to
do that from a 3rd party app, is there a notification or apple event or
something I can send to xcode to make it do that? (ex, if I wanted to
write a service to do this, or support it in my (non-existent) text
editor app.)

Thanks!
