Going from CodeWarrior to XCode was the step backwards. XCode makes make
files seem user friendly in comparison.

Exactly what I am thinking. Xcode made me learn more about makefiles and the command line options of gcc and ld than I ever wanted to know. I'm using an IDE exactly because I don't want to have to go through man pages just to figure out that "-Xlinker -Y" tells me why my build fails. From an Apple product, I would have expected that a double-click on the error message would give me the details.

In my opinion there is a huge opportunity for some one to introduce a
Mac native IDE that doesn't suck. I know I would pay for it if it meant
I wouldn't have to deal with one more link error caused by ingenious
XCode features such as ZeroLink.

There are plugins for Eclipse to use gcc. I wonder how hard it would be to make Eclipse build OS X application bundles.
