In Xcode 2.2, once you press 'Find' in the find window, it displays the

I prefer the behaviour of CodeWarrior, TextWrangler, BBEdit, etc. where

a new window is displayed with the results of the find.  I frequently

need to compare the results of two searches side by side.

Is this possible with Xcode?

No, but it's a common request.  If you want the functionality that you can have the results from several searches hang around, check the "Display Results in Find Smart Group" check box.  The results will persist in items under the "Find Results" group in Groups and Files, and you can go back to old search results there.
