Executable extension is ignored?

I'm trying to add a '.real' extension to the executable I'm creating. I'm setting the Executable Extension in the target info accordingly, but it appears to have no effect on the resulting executable path. 'Executable Prefix', on the other hand, works fine.

Can anyone get the extension to work? Any suggestions what I might be missing?
