This issue had nothing to do with xcode, I should emphasize.  Only with
the file system.  I'm not complaining: I had the option to choose UFS over
HFS+ when formatting my partitions, and like most people, I just clicked
'yes.' :)  (Irrelevant: The .C file was not compiled directly, it was some
file to process with m4, a result of someone else's naming convention, not
mine.)
