project is read only and cannot be saved

  • Subject: project is read only and cannot be saved

I'm working on a shared project. Every time I exit xcode, it complains:

The project "myproj.xcodeproj" is read only and cannot be saved. Your changes will be lost when you close it. You may need to SCM edit the project file to gain writability.

Now, I rarely change the project itself, and certainly didn't the last time. What's going on? How can I avoid this message unless I really modify the project?
