Mike,
Sorry , just received adviced about mail format.
Resending the mail once again in plan text format.
I tried to install Mac OS X server 10.3.9 on Power Mac G5, but a cross mark
icon appears on the screen and it just won't proceed to install.
I intend to use Power Mac as development system and test on Xserver.
But then I have a few queries,
1. Migrate to xcode 2.2 from 1.5
2. Continue to use gcc 3.3 for 10.3.9.
But when IOKit based ethernet driver is but on 10.4.x system how can I
ensure that the system libraries used for building the kext will work
in 10.3.9 system.
This would be really helpful to me as I am very new to Mac OS.
with regards
Sriram

Few days back purchased Power Mac G5 and it was shipped with 10.4.2

It is possible to have 10.3.9 ver of OS on Power MAC G5 as I intend
to develop device drivers for 10.3.9 and
do the testing on the same version of the OS.
Firstly, if you have an ADC subscription you may be able to obtain an answer
to this from your ADC contact.
However, it never hurts to try. Both machines will have come with OS
installation media; you should be able to try booting the Power Mac from the
Xserve install disk.
Before you do this though, it is worth noting that for testing purposes you
should test on current as well as older versions of the OS. It's also worth
noting that you can build drivers that are multi-version compatible; if your
plan was to use the Power Mac as a development workstation and test on the
Xserve, there is nothing preventing you from building a 10.3.9-compatible
driver on a 10.4.x system.
This would give you the best of both worlds; an up-to-date development
environment and a test environment representative of your customer needs.
